Our whole family of 5 were laying on the bed of our Jayco Swan, and it got me thinking: what are the bed weight limits for a Jayco camper trailer?

After a little bit of research I found this:

The beds of Jayco camper trailers are rated to 350 kg… but this is static load. If you’ll be exposing the beds to any form of dynamic load there’s a few things that you can do to increase the bed weight limit.

Also, here’s a few other interesting things…

How often do the beds on Jayco camper trailers fail?

I was quite surprised that I couldn’t find ANY instances of the beds failing when they’d been set up properly

(but I did come across an example of the bed collapsing when the person had forgotten to insert the bed support rails)

That being said:

I actually found more examples of people forgetting to put the bed support rails in and the bed still not collapsing!

(doesn’t mean I’d try that though!)

Reinforce the bases for the bed support poles

The increased surface area spreads out the force from where the bed support poles meet the plywood…

…and they also prevent the plywood from getting chopped up from sliding the poles in and out of the brackets

(so not only is this the way of increasing the bed weight limits but the less friction makes set-up that little bit easier too!)

You can get them here from eBay pretty cheap

Use an Acrow Prop to increase the bed weight limits

An Acrow Prop can be a good idea if you plan on exposing the bed to close to 350 kg of load

(or if you plan on participating in some extreme sports that might expose the bed to some pretty crazy dynamic loads)

Some people have been pretty crafty and made a prop themselves…

(you can even hire them for $3 a night)

Summary: Jayco camper trailer bed weight limits

The slide-out beds on Jayco camper trailers are pretty sturdy and are rated to over 350 kg…

…even when not installed properly they hold up pretty well.

That being said, a modification that is worth doing is these bed end plate plywood protectors here eBay

(they also help with making things easier during set-up)
